Dr. Sketchy of the Upper Valley is moving back to the Junc. After a brief stint (2 sessions) of meeting in the event room at Triple Play, we have decided that there's nothing like the ambiance of beautiful downtown White River Junction. So, beginning with our March 5 session, we will now be meeting at The Filling Station. We're looking forward to more mingling with "the locals", great models, cheap drinks, and fun door prizes... as always, all in at atmosphere of boozy mayhem!
Are you interested in modeling or entertaining at a Dr. Sketchy session? We are always looking for characters! What's your "secret identity?" Are you really a superhero? Have you always wanted to dress up like your favorite fictional character? Or maybe you just want to show our artists how well you can play the harmonica... We accept models of all body types, genders/transgenders, etc.
Whatever it is you do (or want to do) please contact Miss Phoebe at email@example.com to submit your ideas! Models are typically paid $20 per session plus tips, entertainers get $10.
If you're new to the concept of Dr. Sketchy, probably the easiest way to describe it is as a life-drawing workshop... without teachers or instructors... usually held in a bar or nightclub... with models who have attitudes and personalities all their own... accompanied by great entertainment and door prizes and sometimes surprises.
Eschewing the bland, uninspired models of traditional life-drawing classes, Dr. Sketchy's brings you the models you really want to draw: pirates, hobo girls, clowns in corsets, and everything in between! Our models are true characters, not just "subjects".
Dr. Sketchy's was founded in 2005 in New York by the talented and glamorous Molly Crabapple. There are now branches in sixteen countries and over one hundred cities. The Los Angeles Times says, "There is no crisis of artistic inspiration that a $5 mojito and a dancer in a g-string and pasties can't fix." We couldn't agree more!

First of all, we're not snobs... if you draw, if you want to draw, if you can hold a pencil, then you're welcome to join us. We are accepting of everybody from all socio-economic levels, religions, races, sexual orientations, and so on. You get the idea. One of our goals is to unite our community through art.
You will want to bring your own pencils and sketchbook. A sharp #2 pencil will be fine, but a variety of pencils is recommended. You can find what you need locally at Bean's in Hanover, Upper Valley Art Supply in West Lebanon, or even at WalMart. If you want to buy online, Miss Phoebe recommends http://www.dickblick.com/, http://www.jerrysartarama.com/, or http://www.cheapjoes.com/.
Please bring cash. Admission is $10 at the door and we only accept cash (although in rare cases, an interesting trade may be considered.) You'll also want a few bucks to tip our hard-working models. If we are holding a session at a bar or nightclub, you will probably want to buy a drink or two as well. You MAY NOT bring your own alcoholic to sessions that are held at a bar.
Don't be a jerk. Please don't insult other artists or their work, don't hassle the models (definitely do not ask them for a date!), and don't be obnoxious. We gather to have a good time, create great art, and socialize.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Miss Phoebe at firstname.lastname@example.org.
